Public Service Recognition Week is celebrated during the first week of May every year, dating back to 1985 as a time set aside to honor the service of individuals who serve in roles for federal, state, county, local, and tribal government. At EMH&T we are thankful for the incredible work of public servants everywhere and are proud to celebrate along with our public client-partners for their service.

The Columbus Dispatch announced Columbus CEO Magazine’s Top Workplaces 2022, ranking EMH&T in the top spot for midsize workplaces in the greater Columbus area. Our president, Sandy Doyle-Ahern was also presented with a prestigious Leadership Award for her commitment to culture and communication for the midsize category. Columbus CEO Magazine’s incredible honor is in addition to the earlier announcement that EMH&T was named a Top Workplace USA, a national designation. EMH&T would like to thank Columbus CEO Magazine for this honorable recognition and congratulate the rest of the top workplaces in the Columbus area!

Earth Day is celebrated each year on April 22. John McConnell originally proposed the idea to the United Nations in 1969. The first Earth Day in the United States took place April 22, 1970. By 1990 Earth Day became a global campaign concerned with environmental issues.

The Earth Day theme for 2022 is “Invest in Our Planet.”

EMH&T exhibits environmental conscientiousness through our numerous projects that have received LEED certification, which provides a framework for healthy, efficient, carbon and cost-saving green buildings to promote sustainability.

The Dream Field at Windsor Park exemplifies the unique way the work done at EMH&T positively impacts the lives of many by bringing communities together. The Dream Field is an all-accessible baseball field situated in Grove City, Ohio’s Windsor Park, a park long-known as the hub of baseball and softball within the community. In addition to being nestled amongst the many other baseball fields, this field is special because it provides active recreation opportunity for all talent levels.

In addition to the field, an inclusive playground was developed to provide additional recreation opportunities for children with varying levels of physical and cognitive ability. Additionally, all the components of the Dream Field were designed to function seamlessly with one another. Working with the City, the design includes accessible restrooms, an inclusive playground, an accessible picnic shelter, and obviously the field, all located in close proximity to one another. The design is a one stop, all-inclusive recreation facility offering multiple opportunity for recreation for children and adults at all levels.

Work zones are a sign to slow down! National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW) is an annual campaign that takes place during the spring at the start of construction season to encourage motorists to operate with care while travelling in construction zones. This year’s NWZAW will take place the week of April 11-15, 2022. #NWZAW

The Trimble SX12 total station is one of our newest pieces of equipment that can collect 3D scanning at 26,000 points-per-second, increasing efficiency in the field. We understand how important survey is because it lays the foundation in determining the success of a project. Our crews are equipped with the knowledge and the tools for every kind of horizontal and vertical land survey need.

EMH&T ended NSPS National Surveyors Week on Friday with a staff celebration. Following a demonstration of 3D laser scanning by Mike Peecook, PS, staff were treated to an afternoon snack and the opportunity to spin the prize wheel. The week’s festivities included a desk-drop cookie surprise, test your knowledge quiz, a pacing contest with prizes, and information shared in the lobby daily. At EMH&T, we recognize the critical role our surveyors (both in the office and in the field) play in the firm’s ability to deliver solutions for our clients.

Happy National Surveyors Week! We appreciate the impactful work done each day by surveyors at EMH&T, the experts in mapping points of the Earth, following in the footsteps of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. National Surveyors Week was established by the National Society of Professional Surveyors and proclaimed nationally by President Reagan in February of 1984. Nearly a century ago, in 1926, Gordon E. Evans founded a small land surveying firm in Gahanna, Ohio to support the growing local development market. What began as a local, one-man start-up has since grown exponentially, as service disciplines were strategically added to meet clients’ needs. This week we celebrate our roots and professional surveyors, whose impactful work is the foundation of so many of our projects and communities today. #NationalSurveyorsWeek #NSPS
