A ribbon cutting and dedication service was held on Veterans Day, November 11, 2018 to celebrate the addition of a memorial plaza and armed services monuments to Memorial Park in Grandview Heights. This park, at the intersection of Northwest Blvd. and Oxley Road, comemmorates the service and sacrifice of military veterans from the City of Grandview Heights and the Village of Marble Cliff.
In 2015, with a generous donation from Drs. Thomas and Lowell Williams, Grandview Heights dedicated the addition of a bronze soldier statue to the park. The statue was designed as a commemoration of the ultimate sacrifice made by so many service members and to honor America’s over 20 million veterans.
EMH&T’s landscape architects designed park improvements for the 2015 statue as well as the recent enhancements designed to complement it. These additions include a brick memorial plaza, limestone seat walls, raised lawn and Elm trees, and five stone monuments with accent lighting. Each limestone monument represents a military branch of service, Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps and Navy. As in 2015, the 2018 park improvements were made possible by a generous donation from the Drs. Thomas and Lowell Williams Foundation, the City of Grandview Heights and the Village of Marble Cliff.
There’s an easy way to see how we can help. Let’s talk about it.
