Welcome to National Engineer’s Week! This event is celebrated annually for a full week each February. Founded in 1951 by the National Society of Professional Engineers, National Engineers Week is dedicated to ensuring a diverse and well-educated future engineering workforce by increasing understanding of and interest in engineering and technology careers.
The theme for Engineers Week 2018 is “Inspiring Wonder.” With each year, we experience the wonder of technology and engineering advancements– the rise of artificial intelligence, another step toward space travel, and in several cities across the nation a move toward driverless vehicles and “smart” transportation. The engineers of tomorrow are being made today and this year we hope to inspire students by engaging them in real life engineering scenarios and showing them that their school subjects can help them learn how to someday solve real problems. All of this to encourage them to wonder “is engineering my future?"
In conjunction with this year’s theme, on Thursday, February 22, EMH&T will be hosting 10 Columbus-area students for a full day of learning and experiencing the wonders of engineering. The “Engineer for a Day” program will allow these students to not only experience a day in the life of an engineer, but also provide a glimpse into the wonders of 21st Century engineering design.
There’s an easy way to see how we can help. Let’s talk about it.
