EMH&T is proud to participate in the Super STEM Saturday event on October 21 at Columbus School for Girls. Sponsored by Edheads, a local organization dedicated to promoting the interest/knowledge of science, technology, engineering, and math, the event is expected to draw up to 1,000 students in grades 1-8.
Edheads is an online, educational resource that provides science and math games and activities that promote critical thinking. The organization partners with corporations, universities, and school systems who help them research, design, and test the various online games and teaching products they produce.
EMH&T will provide the event’s young attendees with an adventure in civil engineering and design. Participants will join EMH&T’s team of Christian Goodrich, Jennifer Alford, Katie Miller, Sydney Berry, Amy Davidson, and Candie Lester and experience an adventure through the world of civil design from the ground up! EMH&T will take students on a trip from the planning stages of a neighborhood through full design of structures, roadways, and landscape.
Students will also get to check out the survey equipment used as the first step before any new project begins. Students will learn how to take the information drawn from the survey data and incorporate it into a design of their own. Most students will be able to take home a planning kit and design a city or neighborhood!
