Miles Hebert, PE, CFM, LEED Green Associate, EMH&T’s Director of Water Resources Engineering, and Jon Witter, PhD, of The Ohio State University will present at this year’s Ohio Stormwater Conference to be held at the Kalahari Resort and Conference Center in Sandusky, OH. Now in its tenth year, the conference is one of the largest stormwater conferences in the country focusing on stormwater quality issues and technologies.
Their presentation, “Alternative Stream Channel Maintenance at Bridge Crossings,” will present real world applications and lessons learned from research case studies focused on the use of the natural channel design approach (NCD) to address channel bed and bank erosion, while also reducing the deposition of bedload material that can diminish the flood carrying capacity of a bridge or culvert. The NCD approach can help reduce the over-application of rock and concrete, along with the unnecessary costs and unintended environmental consequences the use of these materials can cause. Recent pilot projects by ODOT have confirmed the viability of the approach, while still complying with federal and state permitting practices.
Please plan to attend this informative session on Thursday, May 11 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and visit us at the EMH&T booth (#616) in the exhibit hall during the scheduled exhibition times. For more information on this year’s conference, please visit https://ohstormwaterconference.com
