City of Dublin City-Wide Water System Modeling

Building on the water distribution modeling work completed to support the redevelopment of the Bridge Street corridor, the City asked EMH&T to convert their existing static hydraulic system model to a full, time-dependent dynamic model to allow for a more accurate simulation of the operation of the City’s distribution system. The effort included updating infrastructure, increasing the resolution of the model through the inclusion of smaller diameter mains, and recalibration through new system-wide flow testing. The transition to a dynamic model required extensive recalibration of the model to reflect SCADA data for tanks and booster stations which were idealized in the static model. This effort demonstrated with confidence that prior shortcomings in the system had been corrected by recent improvements and gave the City a more accurate platform with which to gauge the impacts of anticipated growth and redevelopment.
