Brainard and Cedar Roads Signal System at Interstate 271

Lyndhurst, OH

EMH&T studied signal system operations and designed interchange improvements in the Brainard Road corridor through the I-271 interchange. The addition of arterial lanes, pavement widening along the ramps and signal and geometry changes will significantly improve traffic flow and reduce crashes in this heavily congested area.  This project is funded by the ODOT Highway Safety Program, a critical platform that provides over $100 million annually for improvements at high-crash locations. It is one of the largest state safety investments in the nation. EMH&T was assigned a variety of tasks, including roadway and traffic signal design, preliminary engineering studies, and environmental documents. EMH&T is a lead design firm advancing these safety improvements throughout Ohio in partnership with all 12 ODOT Districts and Local Communities. (Official ODOT name: CUY-271-10.87)
