State Route 82 Ramp Improvement
With one of the largest safety programs in the country, the Department dedicates about $102 million annually for engineering improvements at high-crash or severe-crash locations across the state. EMH&T was selected by the Department to utilize our expertise and various in-house resources to benefit this program by providing design and project management services, developing preliminary engineering studies and final design plans.
Through a task order from this contract with ODOT, EMH&T partnered with District 12 to include design improvements for the east bound State Route 82 / I-71 northbound entrance ramp within the City of Strongsville, Ohio. The project included widening the existing entrance ramp to two lanes to improve traffic movements within the interchange. Due to the increased development adjacent to the interstate, the ramp modifications will minimize the traffic queues in the eastbound direction occurring during peak hour travel along the SR 82 corridor. The project includes a multi-phase MOT scheme to minimize construction duration while maintaining access to the ramp during. The project was advanced from Preliminary Engineering through Final Engineering in less than 18 months. The project is scheduled for construction in the spring of 2016.
