Cuyahoga County, OH
With one of the largest safety programs in the country, the Department dedicates about $102 million annually for engineering improvements at high-crash or severe-crash locations across the state. EMH&T was selected by the Department to leverage our expertise and varied in-house resources to benefit this program, providing design and project management services on a variety of projects, developing preliminary engineering studies and final design plans.
Through a task order from this contract with ODOT, EMH&T partnered with District 12 to include design improvements for I-271/Cedar Road/Brainard Road interchange located in the Cities of Lyndhurst and Pepper Pike. The project included improvements to the existing ramps, pavement widening on Brainard Road to improve traffic movements, signal and traffic control upgrades, and geometry changes to allow for better flow of traffic and the lessening of accidents for travelers within this multi-jurisdictional project. The project was advanced from Preliminary Engineering through Final Engineering in less than 18 months. The project is scheduled for construction in the spring of 2016.
