Hyland-Croy Road/Brand Road Roundabout
EMH&T was challenged with finding solutions to accommodate traffic growth in a rapidly developing area with congestion within a four-way stop intersection. With this particular area home to Dublin Jerome High School, traffic operation for buses and safety for pedestrians were of prime concern. EMH&T’s designed solution included an expandable single-lane roundabout, with a multi-use path and splitter islands to provide pedestrian refuge. As traffic continues to increase, the design will easily retrofit to a two-lane roundabout. EMH&T overcame the unique geometry of the intersection that was slightly skewed, and provided resolution to bridge design issues and hydraulics concerns since the site was within the flood plain. Final effort for the project included mitigation of a high-pressure gas line, right-of-way and utility coordination. EMH&T also successfully provided phased construction, utility and lighting coordination, landscape plans, and environmental services.
