Britton Parkway/All Seasons Drive Roundabout
EMH&T designed over two miles of roadway improvements to help the City of Hilliard realize a portion of their thoroughfare plan for the area. EMH&T provided design to coincide with a two-phase construction for a 4,600-foot section of Britton Parkway. EMH&T’s innovative roadway designs allowed for two multi-lane modern roundabout intersections, a single lane roundabout, and two signals. Other roadway design features included planted medians, landscaping and irrigation, sidewalks, one culvert and one bridge stream crossing, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, retention ponds for water quality, a 12-inch water main extension, street lighting and a new utility duct bank. EMH&T met the challenge of retrofitting an existing signalized intersection by designing a multi-lane roundabout that did not pose significant impacts to the numerous private utilities in the area including overhead AEP power transmission lines. Our engineers worked to provide innovative construction phasing for this roundabout for the busy intersections. EMH&T played a vital role in addressing the public education component of this project by producing a brochure to bring awareness to the elements of roundabout and roadway work, as well as the designated detour route to mitigate any confusion for the Hilliard community.
