Garrows Bend Intermodal Container Terminal Facility, Alabama State Port Authority
EMH&T provided site concept planning, track design, civil engineering, electrical, geotechnical, topographic survey, and erosion and sediment control design for the 75 acre Garrows Bend Intermodal Container Transfer Facility (ICTF) at Garrows Bend in Mobile, Alabama. The first phase of the project consists of two 3,000 foot process tracks with two additional process tracks planned for future construction. The initial phase also includes the construction of one support track with plans for six additional support tracks. The site storm sewer system includes four Aquaswirl AS-12 water quality structures to treat construction and post-construction stormwater prior to discharge into the bay. EMH&T also provided the design for a 3-lane entrance gate with optical character recognition (OCR) portals, a twin 7’x10’ cast-in-place box culvert, a 1,200’ terminal entrance drive, two lead tracks (one at each end of the facility), and two new at-grade crossings on City of Mobile streets.
