CSX Valleyfield Mainline, Lead Track & Terminal Improvements, CSX Intermodal Terminals, Inc.
Salaberry-De-Valleyfield, QC, Canada
This project, a new intermodal facility, is located in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield near Montreal, Quebec. It serves more than 20 states throughout the eastern US via CSX’s Syracuse facility. The facility has access to rail, to the Atlantic Ocean, and to the Great Lakes through the St. Lawrence Seaway and nearby highways. EMH&T provided a wide range of services on this project, beginning with preliminary design though final design and construction administration. The terminal encompassed 85 acres and included 7,500 feet of process track, 5,000 feet of support track, a maintenance building, administration building, customs inspection building, craneways for RTG cranes, container storage, and semi-automated gates. EMH&T provided design for all the site grading, track, stormwater management, and utilities. Outside of the facility EMH&T provided design for the relocation of approximately two miles of existing mainline track, a new one mile lead track, and a new wye track.
