Queens University Northwest Residence Hall
At approximately 30,000 sf, this new four-story residence hall, which is prospectively being called Northwest, houses 122 students. As part of the Design-Build team of Vannoy Construction and Luttman Architecture, EMH&T provided a variety of professional services for the project, including land surveying, site/civil engineering, engineering services during construction, water distribution design, building construction staking, and landscape architecture. Quick permitting for a quick project start was important to the University and the D-B team in order to meet school & housing needs. EMH&T was able to obtain necessary permits and complete full design within a two month period with approval received at first plan review. No second submittal was necessary, which was crucial for meeting the project’s deadline. The project site required the relocation of all power loop and water supply loop infrastructure in order to accommodate the new building.
