Nationwide Children’s Hospital Ambulatory Center
Another component of Nationwide Children’s Hospital Campus Expansion is a six-story outpatient care building located on land purchased from Columbus City Schools. The building will house outpatient services such as primary care, dental services, behavioral health, dermatology, adolescent medicine and sports rehabilitation, as well as clinics such as the Center for Healthy Weight and Nutrition. At a cost of $85 million, the 200,000-square-foot ambulatory center is expected to see 100,000 patient visits per year after its completion in early 2017.
As the site/civil engineer for the campus master plan, EMH&T is working closely with project architect NBBJ to provide site civil design for this latest addition to the hospital’s campus on the south side of I-70/I-71 in downtown Columbus. The site is located west of the new Hospital’s Research Building No. 3 along Livingston Ave., for which EMH&T also provided site design. EMH&T prepared conceptual plans, utility analysis and design, private roadway system design, as well as stormwater master planning and site grading. EMH&T’s design approach considered the new building’s supporting infrastructure as phase 1 and the area connecting it to the Research Campus as a separate component.
