Nationwide Arena District and Huntington Park
Adjacent to downtown Columbus, the Arena District encompasses Nationwide Area, home of the Columbus Blue Jackets NHL team and the Triple A Minor League Baseball team Columbus Clippers, along with an eclectic assortment of restaurants, hotels, entertainment venues, office space, multi-family residences and green space. For more than 10 years, EMH&T has worked for Nationwide Realty Investors and coordinated with the City of Columbus to redevelopment the former Ohio State Penitentiary site, transforming into the City’s premier entertainment district. EMH&T provided civil engineering design and surveying services for both the public utility and roadway network and all private buildings within the district. When Huntington Park was designed as home to the Columbus Clippers within the heart of the Arena District, EMH&T worked with the developer to identify a critical path and create an implementation plan for efficiently resolving each site challenge, beginning with addressing the presence of a 110-year-old, 96-inch, brick storm sewer which ran just three feet beneath the planned outfield elevation. Throughout the project, EMH&T coordinated with key public and private stakeholders to complete detailed roadway and utility improvement plans for the River District East redevelopment area.
