Kenyon College Middle Path Restoration
Kenyon College in rural Gambier, Ohio, is the state’s oldest private college and sits on a 1,000-acre campus that includes a 480-acre nature preserve, providing a pastoral setting for its 1,600 students. The campus supports many traditions and is an eclectic mix of old and new architecture. Middle Path is Kenyon’s main drag and runs the length of the college’s campus, serving as a footpath, gathering place and village green for this institution that boasts many distinguished alumni including President Rutherford B. Hayes and actors Paul Newman, Josh Radnor, and Allison Janney.
EMH&T worked with Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, Inc. to provide professional services for the renovation of Middle Path and tree lined boulevard to the north. Our scope of work included designing new concrete curbs to divert stormwater runoff prior to draining into the boulevard as well as the associated structure to collect stormwater to drain into the municipal system.
