Facebook Data Center
New Albany, Ohio
At 900,000 sf (22 acres), Facebook’s new $750 million New Albany data center project is the company’s 10th data center and Central Ohio’s largest data center project to date. Sitting on a 325-acres site, the facility is powered by 100% renewable energy, making it one of the most advanced, energy-efficient data centers in the world. Facebook has its own proprietary cooling system, which uses outdoor air and direct evaporative cooling systems resulting in world-class levels of energy and water efficiency. These factors, among others, made for a unique, complex project that placed a variety of demands on the site’s design.
EMH&T provided professional site/civil engineering, survey, and environmental services for this project and did so on a tight timeline of approximately four months from due diligence to construction start. Design work for the project was completed in about nine weeks. EMH&T worked simultaneously with the City of New Albany on a major improvement project to Beech Road, which provides access to the project site.
