At 600,000 square feet, Easton Gateway provides a mix of retail destinations and restaurants. Located in northeast Columbus and adjacent to the Easton Town Center, Gateway represents the latest approach to the retail mix. This approach encompasses “big box” format retailers such as Costco, combined with specialty retailers and a wide range of dining establishments in a modified version of the original open-air Easton Town Center format. EMH&T has provided professional services to the developers of Easton since its inception. Our involvement has spanned the entire spectrum of development services, including site/civil engineering, surveying, stormwater and floodplain management, environmental, and traffic and transportation services for the public infrastructure and a vast majority of the development sites.
EMH&T provided these same services on the Gateway project, but with the addition of a green infrastructure component incorporated into the site design. The western portion of the site encompasses the original Stelzer Road, which has gravity outlet constraints that won’t allow this section of the development to drain to the regional retention basin located on the site. EMH&T’s solution was to design a 4-acre permeable pavement area within a portion of the parking lot in order to manage this area’s stormwater. This permeable pavement installation is one of the largest in the Midwest.
