Shawan Falls Floristic Assessment

Dublin, OH

EMH&T was hired by the City of Dublin to conduct a floristic assessment of the Shawan Falls area in northwest Franklin County, Ohio. The purpose of the study was to assess the floristic diversity of a proposed neighborhood park and determine a preferred alignment for a nature trail through the park. To assess the area, EMH&T designed and conducted a complete botanical survey of the project area. The survey was conducted throughout the growing season in order to document both permanent and ephemeral species. All vegetation located within the project corridor was identified, including species in the herbaceous, shrub, sapling, and tree layers. The work products included a comprehensive vegetation list, alignment recommendations for the park trail, and a report detailing the investigative results which was used to apply for grant funding. .
