FAI-33-5.00 (PID 76938) New US 33 Interchange

Carroll, OH

EMH&T performed multiple environmental services for ODOT District 5 for a new interchange project along US-33 in Carroll, Fairfield County, Ohio. The work was performed under EMH&T’s ODOT Statewide Environmental Task Order contract. Tasks included Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Phase I Archaeological and History/Architecture Surveys, Ecological Survey, and Section 404/401 Individual Permits. Due to the anticipated impacts under two different design alternatives, which potentially included over 3,200 linear feet of stream and 0.5 acre of wetland, the ecological study was elevated to a Level 2 Ecological Survey report. EMH&T scientists completed the field assessment of the approximately 260 acre project area, identifying and delineating six streams, 13 wetlands and two potentially jurisdictional ditches. EMH&T also performed aquatic and terrestrial habitat studies for all resources as part of the ecological study, including the Ohio Rapid Assessment Method for Wetlands (ORAM), Qualitative Habitat Evaluation Index (QHEI), Headwater Habitat Evaluation Index (HHEI), and vegetative community index.
