City of Columbus Maintenance Facility
EMH&T conducted a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment on behalf of Nationwide Realty Investors for a site that had been owned by the City of Columbus since 1925, which was utilized for storage and street maintenance operations. Those activities entailed the use and storage of fuels and paints as well as the likely use of solvents, thinners, and other substances. The subject property also received significant quantities of undocumented fill materials, likely starting in the mid-1800s. The adjacent property to the east (former Jaeger manufacturing) was determined to be a Recognized Environmental Concern. The site, however, was being remediated under the Voluntary Action Program. EMH&T recommended that a Phase II assessment be conducted to further address concerns and evaluate soil materials and groundwater on the property.
