City of Columbus Third Avenue
As the northern boundary street of the developing Grandview Yard urban redevelopment, the Third Avenue corridor required significant utility improvements to help support this high-density development. In addition to becoming the main trunk line connection for Grandview Yard, this corridor was the major backbone for communication systems entering downtown and Ohio State University areas. EMH&T coordinated and prepared the aerial relocation designs for the communication company systems from AT&T, Time Warner, Insight, WOW, City of Columbus, Qwest, and XO Communication companies. Due to limited space within the existing roadway corridor, the relocation of the communication companies systems were critical prior to the construction of the other adjacent public infrastructure. A separate defined communication duct bank package was designed, bid and implemented in advance of the other public infrastructure works.
