Community Involvement

EMH&T holds a strong sense of responsibility for giving back to not only the local community, but to the needs of stricken areas around the world. Our firm strikes a balance between corporate giving, and supporting and encouraging the involvement of our individual employees.

When Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast, EMH&T employees spontaneously organized a fund drive, which the company then not only matched, but tripled! When the Pakistani Earthquake hit, our employees again, without prompting, organized a fund drive and the firm matched all of the funds raised. Our employees don’t have to be asked for donations…they organize and do it themselves. Because of this, EMH&T has devoted a section entitled Make A Difference in our monthly employee newsletter, where we encourage employees to post volunteer opportunities.

EMH&T’s management structure includes a group of Associates – 24 of our top project managers. This group includes in its corporate responsibilities, a dedication to philanthropic endeavors. Annually, the Associate group spearheads three major initiatives: volunteering with Special Olympics, running a food drive for the Mid-Ohio Foodbank and volunteering by sorting and packing the donations, and Red Cross blood drives. The Associates motivate the employees of the firm to participate and to give, both of which clearly impact the successful operations.

EMH&T has participated in the United Way for many, many years – in early 2005, EMH&T expanded its United Way participation drive with a contest rewarding participants. The “Race for the Human Race” was born. This enrollment contest pitted the employees of the various departments against each other in a participation drive, with the two lead department teams winning a night of competitive indoor race track cart driving. By the end of 2005, our United Way campaign “Race for the Race” competition saw an increase of 50 percent over the previous year.

In addition to the many charitable causes championed by our individual employees, EMH&T formally supports the following specific organizations: United Way, Habitat for Humanity, Mid-Ohio Food Bank, the American Red Cross, and the American Cancer Society.
